I had written this article in 2008, Not much has changed though.
In fact my concerns have only been reinforced with the passage of time. The recession in the financial and real estate sector highlighted the fact that companies were not prepared for these kind of eventualities.
Major institutions were not prepared to handle the Brand battering that they received as a consequence. Mis-management of these reactions only precipitated the situation.
Which goes back to prove that Business Continuity Managers / Emergency Crisis management teams in these leading financial and real estate organizations failed to prepare themselves against such eventualities. (All such plans are usually IT Centric****)
As BCM / ECM professionals we need to learn from these events and ensure that we update our BCPs and Crisis Response plans to include such disaster scenarios.
