A brief:
Started right from tracing the drawings, graduated to design of the assembly and parts of fighting vehicles for defence use. Designed various systems with direct guidance by, Director Padmashri D.P.Mukerji, CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai. Played a pivotal role of the design team, designing a 30 litre variable compression, air cooled, multi fuel I C engine, for main battle tank.
Teamed in designing:
• A variant of gun control mechanism.
• Missile launching pad
• Mobile bridge for fighting vehicles to cross deep rivers.
Having sensed less scope for forward community in Government organizations, moved on to private sector. In TVS Motor Company, designed two wheelers, right from TVS 50, the world’s first gearless, 50 cc twin seat moped, developed, manufactured, and sold in large volumes, won the hearts of people of India, a number 1 moped of India.
Seeing the success of the moped TVS 50, Japanese two wheeler giants, Honda and Suzuki, assessed and offered collaboration. TVS chose Suzuki as collaborator and made many models, the first of the Indo-Jap motorcycles launched in India.
During the above service, apart from design, had taken part in building a strong team and a world class R&D for two wheeler design and testing, grew from 10 members to 200 plus manning the R&D.
From 1986 to 2005, until retirement, was checking 100 % of all the design / drawings of motorcycles, including, fit & function, standards and value engineering. Have lead teams making (HOQ) house of quality, (QFD) quality function deployment, (FMEA) failure mode and effect analysis. Coordinated design changes for both the plants of Hosur and Mysore.
Has volunteered the role of coordinator of TQC activities of R&D and taken the participation level from 10% to 100%, facilitated members to win awards individual and teams. .
