- Complete 132 kV switchyard, transformers & transmission lines. It includes circuit breakers (BOCB, ABCB, MOCB & SF6), transformers (GE, ABB, BHEL, TELK etc.), CT/PT, isolators, insulators, CVT, and power line carrier communication equipments.
- LT (415V) & HT (6.6 kV/3.3 kV) switchgears, burner management system of boilers, 2x1000 kVA & 500 kVA emergency DG sets with auto start system for safe shutdown of TGs at time of system blackout, EOT overhead cranes of plant, etc.
- 415V / 3.3 kV / 6.6 kV Motors of Plant & Colony.
- Plant lighting system & general utilities, coal handling plant equipments.
„« Handling protective relaying system of electrical equipments (generators, transformers, transmission lines, bus-bars, motors & feeders), variable frequency drives, UPS system, AVR system of generators, intra plant communication system testing of electrical equipments & machines.
„« Responsible for the maintenance & overhauling of the generators (GE: 3 Nos., Siemens: 3 Nos., BHEL: 1 No., ABB/ALSTOM: 3 Nos), excitation system (Brushless, Static & Amplidyne Types).
„« Accountable for entire electrical maintenance of the colony including colony sub stations, overhead lines, internal / external telephone exchanges, radio paging system, airconditioning system of plant, bichhari tola ash bundh.
„« Credited for starting several best maintenance practices in hot-line maintenance, thermo-graphic study of the 132 kV system & on line replacement of exciter commutator carbon brush in turbo generator.
„« Took care of operation & maintenance activities of ¡§Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) system of boilers, transformer rectifier sets, ESP panel & controllers, ESP fields, shaft / hopper / support heaters, rapper motors, etc.
„« Acted as Faculty in TTMDC for Electrical Engineering.
„« Identified / selected for the ¡¥AB Birla Group Talent Pool¡¦, which is used to identify, develop & nurture the leaders across the AB Group.
„« Started practice of carbon brushes replacement of Commutator in Exciter of Gen # 1, 2 GE make On Line by some innovation and some modification thus, saving losses due to unit shut down. Earlier brushes were being replaced after shut down.
„« Optimized, resource utilization by converting two (2) sets of battery banks (already provisioned with Boiler UPS #1, #2, #9 & #10 since commissioning) into single set, along with a provision of one common standby set among four (4) banks.
- Helped in cutting down the procurement cost of four (4) sets of 200 AH capacity battery banks and simultaneously upgrading DC battery back for UPS #1 #2 with 425 AH capacity which earlier used to be of 200 AH capacity only.
- Introduced sharing cubicle facility in twin set UPS scheme, which was not provisioned with the system at the time of procurement.
- Apart from the above UPS battery bank system, earlier there used to be four (4) sets of Plant type Exide make Station Batteries between two (2) units (Unit #6 & #7, one emergency one standby in each) which has been reduced to 3 sets (one separate emergency bank for each unit and one common standby between the 2).
- This whole restructuring work in DC battery bank systems has resulted in procurement cost saving of approx. Rs. 90 lakhs.
„« Replaced current transformers (CTs) of Unit #1 & #2 (GTs and lines), one by one without shutdown of any units thereby, avoiding generation loss of 525 MWH @ 70 MW generation from each unit.
„« Started hot line maintenance of 132 KV switch yard first time in Renu Power to avoid the shutdown, saving the forced & planned shut down loss.
„« Instead of maintaining old BOCBs (replacing costly bushings and procuring costly imported spares), undertaken the initiative of replacing imported BOCB by indigenous SF-6 CB.
„« Introduced RLA of Minimum Oil Circuit Breaker (MOCB) panels (@ Rs. 0.39 lakhs each) through internally developed vendor (SIGMA Engineer¡¦s) supplied material, instead of procuring costly similar make new Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCB) panels (28 Nos.) which was costing Rs. 3.7 lakhs each.
- This initiative has resulted in net saving of Rs. 92.68 lakhs, simultaneously helped in enhancing the lifetime of the panels.
„« After incidence of fire in Transducer Panel # 6 & Turbine Supervisory System (ABB Pro-control # 7) in Nov¡¦03, TG # 6 was put on load with in 24 hrs and subsequently TG #7 before time.
„« Received awards/appreciation letters from Unit Head of HIL Renupower Shri G.S. Khurana - Sr. Executive President on 17 Nov 2003.
