  • The new symbol of Indian rupee will add value and credibility to the Indian currency not only in the Asiatic region but worldwide. The strength of our currency has been growing steadily over last decade and a new face will project our identity in a better way. • The new rupee symbol could definitely turn out to be a key element in creating a strong brand identity. In a sense, branding strategy can be no different from that adopted for creating brand presence, visibility and power for a business entity involved in manufacturing or providing service. There has to be sustained and simultaneous progress on many fronts encompassing, inter alia, strengthening and broadening of markets for goods and services with a global aspiration underpinning all our economic activities, unrelenting commitment to quality and ceaseless pursuit of innovation with the customer being the focus of all product initiatives, zero tolerance of defects, convertibility of the Indian rupee on the capital account, ...See More Answered by Parthasarathi Kumar , Senior Manager at Lari Exchange | 02, Aug 2010 04:29 PM
  • Branding the rupee is creating a symbol for the currency. Nothing more. Because of branding the value can never increase. What increases its value is the economic strength the country has globally. If a time comes when the rupee is in demand in world currency market, the value of the rupee is said to have increased. Anyway by way of this branding, we have creaeted a face for the rupee. Answered by Ramesh Babu , Branch Head at Karnataka Bank Ltd | 01, Aug 2010 08:59 PM
  • Actually it should be the other way around, isn't it? A lot of countries have issued their own currency symbols in addition to the leading four - http://www.xe.com/symbols.php. Though the new design of Rupee is definitely a great branding e...xercise to rally around, ultimately the strength of Rupee will be determined by the level of confidence that it will maintain (or increase) its value over time. Although the double-digit inflation means that rupee is losing purchasing power right now, if India can maintain or increase expected 9% growth, Rupee will strengthen.. • As the second-fastest growing economy in the world, do you think that the new internationally recognized currency symbol will fortify India’s brand image by strengthening its currency?

I believe it definitely will. Given the current demographic pattern, skill availability, mobility and entrepreneurial abilities coupled with robust macro-economy management practices as evidenced during the crisis, rupee should hold its own in the next decade, as the current economic situation improves in the western world. The timing in my view, is very appropriate. If one goes through the comparative movements of GBP, USD and Euro, the growth in Euro is discernible. My view is that Euro will bounce back, despite the current European ...See More Answered by SESHADRI CHARI , Self-employed - Independent Consultant at Self Employed | 30, Jul 2010 09:41 AM

  • India is not the second fastest growing or second economy in the world. Yesterday, in Times of India, it gave with data from 1990 till date stating that China has overtaken Japan recently next only to USA. India was always behind the three and could be considered as number four.. • yes off course the new currency symbol will position INDIA as a distinct country as compared to others.
whether INDIAN currency will strengthen or not will depend on other global factors but obviously this step will make INDIAN Rs more recognisable and acceptable.

  • Yes the currency distinguishes from other Rupees in the Asiatic Region. The Indian Rupee is stonger in this area. • Keeping aside all the sentimental and emotional issues and pride, the exercise of rebranding the Indian currency should help because of todays brand driven market. The brand commands a premium in every sphere so why not in this case. But the way our economy is managed or rather mismanaged, where the onus of filling the coffers of exchequer is on taxpayer and general public and where corruption is rampant in all walks of life, to think that by only rebranding the currency will get rid of problem is wishful thinking. Cosmetic changes done we should now focus on the core issue. Answered by KUMAR BAGRI , GM (FINANCE) at J J group | 29, Jul 2010 02:46 PM
  • I am very proud that we have at last after sixty three years of independence in 1947, realised to have a good identity for our currency like USD, Pound Sterling, Japanese Yen and Euro. Thanks to the economic reforms initiated by then Prime Minister Shri PV Narasimha Rao and Finance Minister Dr Manmohan Singh (current PM), Indian Economy has changed a lot in last twenty years. India can now dream of if not boast of becoming a financial superpower in the Asian Region. I am very confident that the yew symbol will definitely re-brand the Indian Rupee. First of all, we should be proud of our currency, financial system and robust banking system too. In USA, it is reported that 140 banks were closed down in 2009, and in this seven ...See More Answered by Prof Chowdari Prasad see chowdarip.blogspot.com , Professor and Chairman of Branding Committee at T A Pai Management Institute, | 29, Jul 2010 02:25 PM

  • India is progressing slowly but steadily. Yes,. This new Rs. symbol has re branded the Indian currency.

Till we do not incorporate in all writing mediums and till all computers will not be able to type this symbol, this is a wasted process.
We should not allow any computer to be sold/used in India/world if it does not have the "RA" symbol.
