Global NGO's and Indian Politics still need Adivasis in the system to have their photographs published in International Magazines and write thesis papers on Indian Poverty. This is the fact to protect the Vote bank.
During elections the leaders need to dance with Adiwasis, eat lavish food with them, drink mineral water, have a great holiday. Post elections - the Adivasis are left to their fate.

Yes, but it is good that right of citizen is protected.
all mines and other resources like water , gas, be tapped by central goverment and be sold at international market for the benefit of the nation .not for some who are managing Answered by Satya Narayana Palukuru , Advocates & Mediators at Advocate , Hyderabad | 28, Aug 2010 02:30 PM

Sampath sir
You are right and agree with ur opinion the productivity of govt sector is very less but at the same time , if we able to administer properly the resultant incremental income can be used for the benefit who are efected and can be used for the developement of socierty. On the other hand extraction by private will only increse economic difference and indescriment attitude to environ and innocent tribal folk . Commented by Satya Narayana Palukuru, Advocates & Mediators at Advocate , Hyderabad | 527 days ago - When govt institutes work on mining / oil exploration the efficiency and productivity levels are quite low when compared to the private companies which are focused on business. In my view the governmental agencies should do sincere policing on adhering to the prevailing laws and ensure protection of environment.. - Well, I don't think it will have any substantial effect on India's image but yes, it may have some cascading effect in the long run. India is known as investment favoring country which may take a toll due to this episode. - It is all politics and some blame game. This nation is full of idiot politicians. They were and they are never happen to be serious about any thing. Makes hue and cry only at end of anything. See what is happening with CWG projects in Delhi. It is common wealth spended disastarously. You will see the outcome in coming days. Who cares what is happening with the image of India in the mind of our own people and in the world. Answered by Rajesh Jha , Mgr., Application Development at Rotomac Electricals Pvt. - There is no denying that development can not be at the cost of Environment. But why the concerned people has awaken up at a stage when there has been huge investment already made? If the project is stalled will it not cause huge loss which will only impact the common population? More than any noble cause political issues plays active roles behind such situations which could been avoided. - It will not only tarnish India's image but it will also ensure that the poorest of the poor tribals of Kalahandi remain in the depths of poverty and misery. The government has done very little to improve their lot and now when some industrialist with a good track record in social and community activities is trying to help them out the govt is trying to put spokes in the wheel. What is the govt is unhappy about is not the environment but the amount of money Vedanta will make. I pity the poor tribals of Orissa who have probably been misled by someone Answered by Subhashish Chattopadhyay , DGM(Projects) at Nicco Corporation Limited | 26, Aug 2010 10:31 AM

DEAR KARTIKEYA JI,
NO DOUBT YOU ARE SUPPORTING TO MY VIEW,MINISTRY OF MINING GOVT. OF INDIA IS NOW GOING TO MAKE NEW POLICY FOR THE SUBJECT KEEPING A VIEW OF LAWFUL RULES.
YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT RULES AND REGULATIONS ARE MADE ONLY FOR FOOLS NOT FOR THE INTELLECTUALS ,THOSE WHO ARE INTELLECTUALS THEY ALWAYS BREAKS THE RULES FOR MAKING AMENDMENTS AGAIN FOR THE FOOLS.
WHY VEDANTA EYES WAS CLOSED AND INVESTED SO MUCH BEFORE ANY PRIOR SANCTION.

Dear Shukla ji,
Your thoughts are very good but unfortunately it looks good in books only.
Just think logically, why Government opens books of law when an entrepreneur wants to come forward through proper channel? Why the law should not be interpreted in favor of investor? There are rules exists which allow modification, alteration in the project, it was done in the past for various projects. Mining is yet to commence in the area where is the question of violation of law??

- Environmental issues can't be put on back burner for sure; but these issues must be brought forth before allowing any substantial investment by a business house.Government must establish nation's honesty & integrity in respect of investment by becoming proactive and defining its mining policy visa vis the ecological dangers. What is most important is the formulation of just & relevant policies and their implementation. I personally feel this episode of Vendanta will have negative impact on new up coming projects in the country, It very unfortunate episode which is raked up. Why at all MoEF has taken this issue so serious at this point of time after the company has invested such a huge capital investment this could have been very well sorted out or informed to Vedanta management initially.
Any ways still I feel the issue can be sorted out in many ways by imposing special conditions like rehabilitation of forest etc. The project needs to be cleared in the interest of local peoples and different section of society Answered by Basavana Gouda , General Manager (Pellet & Benefication plant) at Ispat Industries Limited | 25, Aug 2010 06:17 PM

THERE ARE TWO THINGS 1) EMPLOYMENT GENERATION 2) ENVIRONMENT.
MY THINKING IS THAT EMPLOYMENT GENERATION IS MORE IMPORTANT. BUT YOU HAVE TO TAKE CARE FOR ENVIRONMENT CONTROL. CAN'T VEDANTA GROUP DEVELOP THEIR INDUSTRY WITH DUE CARE TO ENVIRONMENT.
SECONDLY WHEREVER YOU WANT TO DEVELOP ANY INDUSTRY ENVIRONMENT WILL BE EFFECTED. BUT IF YOU ARE REALLY WANT TO DEVELOP AN INDUSRTY YOU HAVE TO ENGAGE ENVIRONMENT SPECIALISTS FIRST THEN YOU GO FOR GOVT. APPROVALS.
APART FROM ABOVE TWO POINTS THERE ARE POLITICS ALSO WHO PLAYS A MAJOR ROLE IN THIS CASES. FOR EXAMPLE TATA MOTORS AT SINGUR IN WEST BENGAL. Answered by ANUPOM BHATTACHARYA , PROPRIETOR at A B Engineers | 25, Aug 2010 05:53 PM

It is certainly not an investment friendly attitude of the Government.
Considering the huge investment and socioeconomic upliftment of the region, MoEF could have taken it seriously and informed Vedanta about the lacunas & shortcomings on the subject matter to rectify it timely. After huge investment by the company the decision of MoEF is very unfortunate to the company as well as to the people who are in the queue for employment.

I do not think that this issue in any way can tarnish the image of country. Rather India can be proud of functioning of our regulatory
system. Vedanata might have built an Alumina plant and operating it with all the necessary clearances based on getting bauxite from their know sources of purchase in the market .
If somebody in future wants that a particular bauxite lease is to feed their would be Alumina plant they shall apply for environmental clearances of both mine and plant together and shall start building the plant after getting the environmental clearance of mine and plant and the mining lease. Environment ministry has set a good example that they cannot be pressurized to take decisions. It's an excellent example of Good governance on the part of the MoEF and should act as a deterrent for all others who had been taking all these years clearances as fait accompli and should bring in change in the[ir] company’s attitudes, thinking and rightful actions towards sustainable developments in the country. The companies need to shun away from the unregulated and unbridled greed for material gains at the cost of the damaging our eco-system irreversibly.
This should now teach the[m] company a lessen and prevent them from further damage to our environment, by way of polluting our aquifers, flora and fauna from contamination from pollutants and other heavy metals, (it need not have to be elaborated here on the harmful ...See More Answered by Pushkar Raj Chandna , CEO & MD at YASHAD CONSULTANCY PVT. - I think the Environment Minister Mr. Jairam Ramesh has taken a landmark stance in the history of Indian politics. He has clearly gone about giving a signal to one and all that we stand for development but not at the cost of our environment and people. It has been long argued and host of petitions filed over the past few years against state government colluding and coming under the influence of big industrialists.Vedanta has faced protests worldwide for its dubious anti-environment policies. It was time to draw a line wherein the overambitious mentality of heavyweight industrialists were curtailed and a message sent that you cannot do anything at the cost of nature and people.I feel this incident will instill the belief that the ...See More Answered by Aditya Agarwal , Investment Banking Analyst at Spark Capital Advisors | 25, Aug 2010 03:23 PM
