  • Well, it is a tricky one!!! It depends on how you use it and with what purpose. I have often seen Organizations use social networking media as means to push their products. They start with the desire not to do so, but eventually fall into the trap.

Talking of crowdsourcing it does enhance brand engagement. For example it is very helpful in help desk,. transcription, outsourcing initiatives, BPO, LPO, KPO and its likes. One should know where to draw the line and make information public judiciously. Mind you, your competitiors are also following you. However, this must not deter us from using this media. ...See More Answered by Anonymous | 27, Jun 2011 05:30 PM

  • Mr. Vikas,

a good question posed to us in the field of marketting / brand building. I feel that croud sourcing has the potential to both engage the brand towards its development / popularity as well as devaluate it. croud sourcing can devaluate the brand if proper choice of the target croud has not been done. similarly it can add value to the brand if the right type and focussed croud is targetted and sourced. croud sourcing is a very good tool for making brand awareness and getting feedback on a particular producr or service. • Brand engagement or devaluation of the same depends on multiple factor and hence isnít a direct relation to crowdsourcing or no crowdsourcing. However if used well and with right set of audience and platforms I believe it can yield great results. We have seen Unilever, Pepsi and other big brands use crowdsourcing to generate ideas and build brand value. Also itís a wonderful model for SMBs for getting value delivery for much lesser cost. I have seen sites like 99designs.com, crowdspring.com, jademagnet.com gain tremendous response from both SMBs and also providers/designers to deliver creative work Ė however the prerequisite is to ensure that effort goes in giving the crowd the right direction to generate brand value. • It is a`new emerging tool which can be effectively used to propogate brand messages and can help in creating the buzz in cost effective manner.it could be used to gather feedback and views on camapigns, product, brands. However it cannot be the only tool used in isolation but has to work in sync with other initiatives to create a holistic experience. • Crowd sourcing can definitely generate brand engagement and as rightly said, can be very good source of mouth publicity. If handled properly and methodically, crowdsourcing can be a very good tool to promote any product or news. Many must have heard about Lord Ganesha drinking milk. Think how crowd sourcing sent messages to every nook and corner of the world in a jiffy. Answered by Satish Juthani , Manager, Ghatkopar(Mumbai) at Karvat Group of Companies | 24, Sep 2010 04:52 PM
  • When you go on a foreign Holiday, having Rs 1,00000/- with you as a secret reserve, does it help you??

So also with crowd resourcing, apart form conventional and non conventional means and planned activity, it helps your brand building and reinforces your core value if done well and carefully.

  • Dear Vikas,

You have raised a very good question. I appreciate what Saurabh has said but beg to differ that Crowd Sourcing is just not about operational and research medium. Its much more.

  • Crowdsourcing is a tool for problem-solving and operational outsourcing to a large number of people instead of employees or contractors. One would engage in crowdsourcing primarily for gaining new insights or information towards a particular challenge or need. Certain pieces of information such as weather updates, news updates, traffic updates, consumer insights on products etc can be generated through crowdsourcing...

But I don't see how it relates to brand engagement or brand value... to me its not a branding strategy, its an operational and research tool Answered by Saurabh Shroff , Founder & CEO at Clearwater Consulting | 23, Sep 2010 06:08 PM
