How to change the world

Social entrepreneurs have existed throughout history. St Francis of Assisi, the founder of the Franciscan Order, would qualify as a social entrepreneur — having built multiple organisations that advanced pattern changes in his “field.” Similarly, Florence Nightingale created the first professional school for nurses and established standards for hygiene and hospital care that have shaped norms worldwide. What is different today is that social entrepreneurship is developing into a mainstream vocation, not only in the US, Canada, and Europe, but increasingly in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. In fact, the rise of social entrepreneurship represents the leading edge of a remarkable development that has occurred across the world over the past three decades: the emergence of millions of new citizen organisations.

Consider that 20 years ago Indonesia had only one independent environmental organisation. Today it has more than 2,000. In Bangladesh, most of the country's development work is handled by 20,000 NGOs; almost all of them were established in the past 25 years. India has well over a million citizen organisations. Historically, these organisations have been defined in the negative — as non-profit or non-governmental organisations. Today they are understood to comprise a new “sector,” variously dubbed the “independent sector,” “non-profit sector,” “third sector,” or, the term favoured in this book, the “citizen sector.”

  • If our M K Gandhi survived long, he would have changed himself fully from a political change agent to one of purely a social reformer – not a social entrepreneur. We Indians might have built temples for him -just as we built for Buddha. We exported Buddhism almost 100 %; because it is not suiting the 'true Indian way of casteisms '. We still follow the old casteisms, groupisms& regionalisms... We have invented 'hereditary democracy’ [ and also exporting them to Asia and elsewhere ] and now preach 33% reservation for women in Parliament - only to extend the modern Hindu way of share to daughters like for sons in family properties .. We are indirectly promoting a few 1000 families to rule India than the old 1000s from UK. Additionally we have the Rajas from the Government Officers for ...See More

genration to act in a positive way and coop with them meeting good tasks will be an easy wayout because the work which we will intiatecanl be well kept in doing even after and traditionally that should be in the process of trianing and re training and there should be a few checkpoints to maintain the right stages from time to timeanything good done for widows, poor people, deprived childern, illitrates, handicapped will encourage younger genration to work for society then they would not limit themselves to a province or state or a country but for mankind or humanity

  • It is a very serious topic which demands greater attention from every one of us in the world in order to make the real change happen. \" You are the world and the world is you\", is the famous statement of J.Krishnamurti who always stood not for Organizations to change the world, because as he said it was the observation of the fact that over the years in the history of mankind, real change has not taken place in the mankind through organizations. Organizations are only created divisions and anything that is divisive is bound to bring conflict.
Though this may sound very religious or theosophical, it is the real fact and the real answer to this topic \" How to change the world\" must definitely be understood with the teachings of J.Krihnamurti and the likes of him viz., ...See More

Commercialised units will only think of profit margins, whereas Social Entrepreneurs will give more weightage towards human development, environment protection, Human Rights issues, etc, you name anything, it will be covered under social entrepreneurship. With a POSITIVE outlook Social Entrepreneurs always has a VISION to perform in the long run. Change should be welcomed. And Social Entrepreneurs are the Change Agent for the Societies.

  • I agree on the need of Social entrepreneurs, in its true sence. When the word \'entrepreneur\' is being used, it cannot be a non-profit organization. In India, what is happening is the duality of character and this is defeating the whole purpose of social organization or the social interest. Most of the NGO\'s in India are NGO\'s in name but another business houses, the houses of exploitation, in conivence with politician and the buerocrates. A Social entrepreneur in the true sence is the need of time.

As organizations are growing in an Net work economy, it is giving rise to hour glass economy - where there is top class jobs that require high creativity and excellence in performance and low jobs that can be performed by anyone with simple skills. They are generally known as imac jobs and Mc Donald jobs. Due to globalization the capital moves to the direction where it can produce maximum return and outsourcing is one of the strategy developed by organizations. In this scenario, where do we find jobs? The Imac jobs are limited. the Mc Donald jobs are there but they are specific. In this context, you will find ...See More
