Effective cost control is never an easy task.  Managers worldwide are finding that many of the cost cutting measures of the past have failed to provide long term solutions in the face of today’s problems.   A fresh approach to budgeting and activity appraisal is needed, focused on adding value instead of costs.

While most Companies take to Cost Cutting and Cost Control during not so good times, prudence demands that cost control becomes an integral part of a company’s efficient function during good times too.   If followed this way, cost cutting and cost control will form part of the DNA of the Company which is very much required in today’s complex world.    Therefore the culture of the organization together with the demand placed by the organization on the operating and other support function people should lend credence to making cost control and cost cutting a habitual proposition.
